Alona Tropical Beach Resort Alona Tropical Bar & Restaurant Captain's Grille Trudi's Grill Whale Watching and Snorkeling at Balicasag |
Traveleogue: After our hectic countryside tour, we were up and running at 8AM the next day raring to go to Panglao. Our friendly van driver Mang Marcelo took us to Panglao for PhP350 one-way. Panglao itself is connected to Tagbilaran via a short bridge. But going to Panglao from Tagbilaran takes around 30 -45 minutes. There are also almost no public transportation going to this place.
When we got to Alona Tropical Resort, I was very impressed. I booked this place because of it's very cheap prices but I was having nightmares of it being an ugly place. I was wrong. It was beautiful! The standard fan rooms (PhP800) are very close to the beach and our very own beachfront fan room (PhP1200) is right smack dab in front of the beach!!!
We took a dip in the beach, had our lunch at the restaurant, had our afternoon siesta, did picture taking of the Panglao sunset, had dinner at Captain's Grille, swam in the resort swimming pool, and got ready to find Nemo tomorrow. Yay!
We started out early (6am) for our whale watching and island hopping trip to Balicasag. You have to get up early because you will not catch any dolphins or whales at a later time because they will find the sun too hot by then. We so 5 pilot whales!!! They look just like dolphins except for their rounded noses. It was way cool!
We then went to Balicasag to go snorkeling at the Marine Sanctuary. It was by far the best snorkeling spot I've ever been. (Boracay, Puerto Galera, Batangas does not hold a candle to this place) We fed the fishies bread and they were very friendly to people.
We paid PhP1500 for the whole trip and PhP150 each for snorkel rental equipment.
Had lunch back at Alona, took a nap by the beach, had dinner, swam in the resort pool again and am very sad that we're going back to Manila tomorrow. |
Sigh, back to Manila... http://www.virtualtourist.com/m/73423/1540b4/ |
