"Small Town Life" London by latinwithwings
London Travel Guide: 7 reviews and 14 photos
I am a transplant from Tucson, AZ living in London, KY for the moment. Life here is very quiet and the citizens of London are very caring.
There is a bounty of things to do in London and the surrounding area. Cumberland Falls is a place to visit to see a moon bow and I have been told that there are only a couple places where a moon bow can be seen. Kentucky consist of state parks and even more state parks so it is great for hiking and quick history lessons. There is also some distillery's(Member's Mark, Wild Turkey, and Georgia Moon just to name a few) scattered throughout the state.
In the southwestern part of the state there is the Mammoth Cave State Park. This is an excellent place to visit if you like that sort of thing and while you are around there make sure to visit the Corvett Museum.
Now if it's big city life you're looking for the places to visit are Louisville, Lextington and Richmond.
Louisville is a great place to visit. They have Six Flags and a place downtown on 4th St. that is closed to traffic and has about a dozen clubs and bars to chose from. Make to dress appropriately because most places have a dress code that is strictly enforced.
Lexington is home to Kentucky University(UK). There is plenty to do in Lexington from nightlife to shopping. There is a great little used book store and goodwill store on Leestown Rd. and another awesome spot called Lexington Green on Nicholasville Rd where you will find a bookstore, music store, Wild Oats grocery, and a cheap movie theatre behind the Best Buy across the street.
- Pros:A bounty of state parks, great for kayaking
- Cons:Small town living, dry county(not bad for everybody)
- In a nutshell:The perfect place for a quiet, relaxing getaway.
