Located next to the San Lorenzo Church is a busy marketplace with over 100 stalls peddling leather goods, clothing, jewelry, ceramics, designer goods and designer knock offs at low prices.

Goldsmiths and Silversmiths have lined both sides of the Ponte Vecchio since the 15th century. Today the shops on the Ponte Vecchio are jewelry stores carrying fine gold jewelry and coral jewelry.
What To Buy: Gold jewelry, coral jewelry
What To Pay: The prices are not considered a bargain.

Name of Shop: Loggia del Mercato Nuovo (o del Porcellino)
Open air market in a loggia with about 2 dozen stalls and vendors. Built 1547-1551 by Giovanni Battista del Tasso. The market is locally known as the ‘Porcellino' (swine) because of the fountain by Pietro Tacca, 1612. Be sure to rub Il Porcellino's nose. Legend has it that if you rub his nose, you will return to Florence.
