Dharan is situated in the eastern part of Nepal. It is not like many other cities in Nepal. It's cleaner and yes, richer. That is because of the British gurkha recruitment center in 1953. It brought wellness to the city.
>>From Kathmandu 550 km and 12 hours by bus. >> From Biratnagar 45 km and one hour |

| | Holy city without tourists In a way I liked Dharan more than Kathmandu, but for a tourist it is much more challenging place to visit. There are not so many hostels and people do not commonly speak English. I met one man, former gurkha soldier, who came to talk to me with a dictionary in his hand. So people will probably stare at you because they are not used to tourists. They are very friendly though.
>>In Nepal Dharan is known for B. P. Koirala Institute of Health and Science >>There are numerous temples and holy sites in Dharan, which makes it an important pilgrimage destination. |
| | I will remember Instead tourists, I found a lot of beautiness in this city. Peaceful roads up in the hills, well kept gardens, small places of worship and breathtaking landscapes. Sometimes cheerful, sometimes confused eyes of the children.
