The village of Trigrad with its awesome gorge and caves, is the star attraction in the southwestern Rhodopes.
It is located some 27 km from the town of Devin and 12 km from the fork road by the village of Teshel.
In Trigrad you can see a Christian Church and a Muslim Mosque built side by side.
The road to Trigrad passes along the fascinating gorge bearing the same name as the village. While the road meanders between the cliffs, the sky remains a mere streak of light. The cliffs themselves soar as high as 100 m or more, and the distance between them hardly reaches 20-30 m. Its sheer walls overhanging the foaming Trigradska river, which disappears into the fantastic Devil's Throat cave.
The wild karst terrain surrounding the sprawling village of Trigrad, abounds in caves - 102 found so far. One of them, Haramiiska cave is of great interest.
The remains found in the cave dwellings from the copper-stone age as well as from the Thracin period, shows the old origin of the village.
Trigrad is a starting point for horseback riding, biking, and hiking to the village of Mugla and the Yagodinska cave famous for its unique cave pearls and other formations, as well as for the yielded 7000 years old Neolithic implements.
