The best about Hotel Arcadia for me was the view you get to the city and the location of the hotel. What I was seeing from my window was both St. Sophia and the Blue Mosque. In order to get that I think it is a good idea to put it on your reservation because not all the rooms are having that view. In terms of location it is a good starting point due to the fact that it is in a walking distance from such major points of interest as Grand Bazaar, Topkapi Palace and several museums. The room was comfortable, clean and neat :) The staff could be a bit absent minded at times :) I asked for my key and they gave me the key from another room :)))
Unique Qualities: - air conditioning, - central heating, - mini-bar, - satellite channels, - safe deposit boxes, - direct-dial telephones and - hair-dryers The view of the Sea of Marmara from Horizon Restaurant on the top of the hotel is unique. I wish the weather was better and wormar so I could have my breakfast outside, not indoors.

I stayed at Hotel Baron during my visit in Istanbul in 2002. It is a nice and clean 3 star hotel woth a good service. I was with a friend of mine who actually preferred to stay in a hostel, I preferred to stay in a 4 star hotel and we finally agreed on that hotel. I should say that I do not regret and that the price quality ratio is quite satisfactory. Actually, if you are not llooking for something flashy but for a good starting point for walking around the old town, Hotel Baron is a very good option because it located within a alwking distance from some of the major historical sights and places of interes like Sultanahmet Musk, St. Sophia Museum, underground Water Reservoir and Grand Bazar.
Unique Qualities: - Turkish bath, - sauna, - roof top bar - meeting Room - satellite TV, - mini bar, - direct telephone, - air-condition

The overall impression I got from the hotel was good. The rooms are spacious and clean. The fasade is impressive and the sport center is really good. I was slightly disapointed that the indoor pool was a bit small. I think the lenght was not more than 15 meters. Another thing I found a bit anoying was that early in the morning, around 8.00 a.m. a guy comes to your door, knocks on the door saying that he can refil the minibar. It happens even if you put the DO NOT DISTURB sign on your door.
Unique Qualities: They advertise themselves as the first convention center in Turkey and the one having the biggest ballroom in Europe. Rooms: - air-conditioning, - mini bar, - internet access, - satellite TV, - voice mail system, - direct telephone, - alarm, - music broadcast, - electronic door key system, - private safe, - bath phone, - bath emergency call, - 24 hour room service and dry-cleaning service. Facilities:- Indoor and outdoor pools, - fitness center, - Turkish bath, - solarium and massage services - a couple of restaurants - 22 acoustically designed and high ceiling meeting rooms.

OK, I ended up in this hotel because with was part of the weekend package to Istanbul offered from one of the Bulgarian tour operators. They advertised the hotel like a 2+ stars hotel but as you can see from the pictures it was far away from that. The main reason to dislike the hotel was the fungus on the bathroom ceiling. The moisture on the room ceiling and the fact that I could not close the window and, therefore, it was too cold in the room did not help at all for improving my opinion about this hotel. The moment I saw the room and the bathroom I went downstairs and said that I want to move to another hotel. After arguing with the Bulgarian guide for a while we reached the agreement that I will stay with the group but they will give me another room. The second room was better, at least a could close the window and there was no moisture... but still the tiles in the bathroom were dirty and wardrobe was filled with blankets and pillows not folded properly but just stuck there in a complete mess, so that I could not use it for my clothes. After all I said so far I think there is no need to say that my advice is to stay away from this place.
Unique Qualities: Fungus and moisture...
