Istanbul---The City Surrounded By Sea

Images of Istanbul
Welcome to Istanbul the exotic city with a whirlwind of activity that is sure to arouse all of your senses. There is so much to see in do in this city that even a week would not do it justice. Many of the main tourist sights lie in the pretty Sultanhamet area. Venture across the Bosphorous and take in Asya (the Asian side of Istanbul). Venture over to trendy Taksim for a drink, a cafe, or to smoke nargile in one of the endless sidestreet cafes. See two amazing mosques within steps of each other and then browse for spices in the Grand Bazaar.

This has to be the most beautiful city I have ever laid eyes on, since it is surrounded everywhere you see with water. The city lies on the North of the Sea of Marmara which is connected by the Bosphorous Straits to the Black Sea. The Golden Horn, the city's prominent river cuts in on the action as well. Getting around here can be complicated, but so much fun. Hope you can see the same beauty I saw through my photos.

Me and Dr. Erol
A friend of mine had traveled Turkey extensively and provided the contact information of a Dr. friend that he had made in Istanbul. I emailed not knowing what to expect and on my last day in Turkey Dr. Erol drove to Taksim and picked me up for my last 12 hours in Turkey. We hit it off immediately and he spent the next 12 hours showing me all different parts of Istanbul, offering me endless glasses of apple tea, several bottles of Efes, and even a fantastic dinner. Erol was an AMAZING individual to get to know and I had the time of my life with him. He is considering moving to NY to work and I sure hope he does, as it would be nice to have such a great friend that much closer.
