Barvaria, Brauts, and Beer We detoured on a trip to Italy to visit friends in Munich. It was the highlight of our trip. It is the most beautiful ciy I have ever seen. From the moment we stepped out from the S Baun and walked up into Marienplatz, I felt right at home. It was May 1st, a holiday in Germany and May Fest was in full swing in the plaza. Thousands of people were listening to bands, drinking beer, eating, and it was impossible not to get caught up in the spirit of the party. Needing to sit, after an exhausting 16 hr travel time, we headed a short distance east to the famous Hafbrauhaus. There we drank giant mugs of excellent white beer, listened to the traditional Barvarian brass-band and met some wonderful people. |
