I was born in a small island in north peninsular Malaysia called Penang Island. Penang consists of two parts including the island and a small part of the mainland. However, i can assure you those staying on island are so prideful for being a Penang lang until most of the time, we thought Penang is only the island. Yes, we called ourselves Penang lang, where ‘lang’ means people in hokkien, a kind of Chinese dialect. 99% of Chinese in Penang Island speak hokkien; even Malay and Indian here speak hokkien. Penang is unique as it is dominated mostly by Chinese.
Penang is recognized for its best hawker food in Malaysia. Malaysian outside Penang comes here not for colonial heritage, not for beaches but for food, food, food. If you never try the hawker food, don’t tell others you visited Penang, they will laugh at you, especially Penang lang.
If you come to Penang for FOOD or looking for OUTSKIRT ACTIVITIES , yes you are in a correct page.
We organise trips to go around Penang for some REAL GOOD FOOD , not those you get in a touristy area; and we have trips for trekking, camping and cycling too. Drop me a mail if you are interested and we can talk about that.
Other than that, we provide FREE walking tour in the old town, and of course we can recommend you some good food in town as well!

Penang in '09? hehehe. Hope you are enjoying your Visayas trip, where are you now?
Your pages remind me of my annual visits except these two years because of my newborn baby girl but it's time to visit Penang again. Thanks for sharing - Kelvin, Singapore.
particularly this island gives me a feeling of nostalgia. Hope that u can give me some hot tips to discover upur island. of course, eating is always my favourte way to experience the culture of the people or a place.
lovely page! Nikos
Agree, jalan selamat CKT is expensive alright. Hmm, interesting story about the bridge;p
Servi\ce at 32 Mansion's bad. Orderd some cakes but only 1 came. Waiter's reluctant to serve the rest of orders. When the bill was called, we were charged 1 extra item. When questioned , the headwaiter just threw some cash at us for the refund. How rude !
Sawasdee ka Tham!...How're you?...Hope you've a good dream for tonight & nice day for everyday...May ;)
great page, looking forward to a Penang Laksa

Hahaha tham, Penang sure no PniahTeen everytime. I was bad luck once witness a local Indian-Malay-gang beat up a Tanglang vendor at the Feringhi night bazaar area, that Tanglang had blood all over his face, tourists and locals stood and watch...
