Lucky me, I get to travel to NY every month for work.
Manhattan is definitely one of my favorite cities in the world. It's also the home of the famous HBO tv show, Sex & the City, which just ended its sixth and the last season, after being on-air for six years.
Being the city that never sleeps, you can find plenty of restos & shops. Fifth Ave is the most famous street to shop at, it's where all the famous stores are located, including the first Saks Fifth, Bloomingdale's, & Macy's.
Properties are xtremely expensive in New York City, especially neighborhoods like Upper East side, where the old money is.
Upper West side will be more of yuppies, and younger crowds. Both sides are divided by the huge park, the Central Park. You should definitely visit in Summer, there'll be lots of activities there.
Grand Central terminal is located in the Murray Hills area, also known as the Midtown.
SoHo is the new Hip place in Manhattan. It used to be a place for starving artists, now it's just full of interesting stores, and property value is definitely high now. You may also buy arts here.
Madison Square Garden is located not too far from Downtown, which is also the home of the Knicks, NY's NBA team.
NY Yankees won lots of World Series in the past, therefore, the Yankee Stadium is also v. famous.
Down to Battery Park, you'll take the ferry to the Staten Island for FREE!!
State of NY & NJ had been fighting over the statue of Liberty for the longest time in history. NJ claim that it is closer to Jersey, and the New Yorkers claim that it was the mascot of NY.
NY in the past during the mobster time was v. corrupted. JFK airport was owned by NJ until recently.
Then there's the Times Square, home of the famous Broadway shows, namely The Phantom of the Opera, Beauty & the Beast, the Lion King, Aida, Les Miserables, and many more. Tickets in Broadway are more expensive than the same performances in other cities, but they're the best!
You don't have to go up to New England states to experience the New England country living. Cities like Scarsdale & New Rochelle are one of the richest neighborhood in NY. They're only half hour train ride from Grand Central.
It's amazing how different the Westchester is from NY, considering they're so close.
Winding roads & lots of trees along the way. This is where you could see huge mansions worth millions of dollars. Most of the residences are Italians & Jews.
- Pros:24-hr city, lots of shopping, convenient public transportation
- Cons:too crowded, not v. safe
- In a nutshell:I love NY
