"Rome wasn`t built in a day" Rome by edinka

There is a saying about Rome: if you through a coin into the Trevi Fountain, you will return to Rome. I was in Rome in 2004, after a business trip we spent one day hanging around the city. Then I through a coin into the fountain and 4 years later I indeed returned.
Let me show you what I found interesting about this city!

Every tourist knows that Rome`s ancient river is called Tiberis (now: Tevere) but not evrerybody is aware that this river is the second biggest in Italy (biggest is Po in north Italy) - it looks shallow and small for the first sight.
23 bridges cross the river in Rome, some of them are hirstorical monuments as well, like Ponte di Angelo, which was build by Ceasar Hardianus.
There is a small island on the river at the downtown of Rome, it houses a hospital but on a sunny day it is worth to walk though it and have a nice ice cream over there.

Everywhere around Rome, you will find ancient historical buildings, ruins - even if you are not looking for them especially. Not only the Forum Romanum is worth to see!
