In West Africa, there’re also places to go on Safari. They might be unknown, but they’re worth a visit. Niokolo Koba for instance, it’s located in south east Senegal and is a WHS site. The scenery is magnificent, you can find Chimpanzees over here and do pirogue trips on the Gambia River. These crystal clear pools are a favourite hangout for hippos and crocodiles. The main attraction is a submerged viewing tank which was designed so that people could watch the hippo's antics underwater, but since it was built the hippos have retreated shyly to the other side of the pool. The good news is that you get a great view of the fish. The underground water that feeds the pools filters up through the volcanic rock of the Chyulu Hills and it is linked by pipeline to Mombasa, supplying most of the town's water.

From the summit glaciers, screes, cliffs, afro-alpine moorland then forests lead down to the cultivated foothills below.

Larabanga is situated in the north of Ghana 16 km west of Damongo and only about 2.5 km away of the Mole National Park. This place is known for its ancient mosque. It is a common believe that this mosque is the oldest mosque in Ghana. Even the present generation think it was built by God. The so-called "God built mosque" also houses a holy Koran which also is believed to descent from heaven. This holy book is read once in a year or so during a special ceremony.
