"The windy city" Chicago by sarah00

Chicago is only 5 hours away from Detroit. So when we want to get away for a weekend it's an obvioius choice. There are always fun things to do and see. Great sales in all the shops and of couse great food! Everytime I've been there we've all found great sales in stores like Ann Taylor Loft, H&M, Express, Gap, Crate and Barrel just to name a few. I have a friend who lives in the city so sometimes I stay with her or in a hotel downtown. Just this last trip we got a room at the Intercontential for $90 on priceline. It was a great deal. I've also stayed at the Lennox suites which is a block off MI Ave and was really nice. They didn't charge us for parking. And the time before that we stayed at the Wyndham one block off of MI Ave. We joined their Wyndham Byrequest and got a great deal on the hotel. So even if you don't have a friend to stay with it's easy to get a good deal on a hotel right in downtown near or on Michigan Ave.

Pretty much every time I've been there it's been in the winter. It's very cold but as long as you pack accordingly there's no reason to avoid Chicago just because it's winter. Make sure to have a warm coat, a good hat and some gloves and you'll be fine.
