Getting TO/AROUND: If this is your first time to Tokyo, just take note that the JR train system is different from the metro (or subway) system. But one can connect to the other. If you plan to travel on JR trains to other cities like Osaka, Kyoto, etc.., then you can consider getting yourself a JR railpass. One must get it before you leave your home country though.
Note : Tokyo Station is the central of the connections for Tokyo city, so if you stay anyway near tokyo station, you'll find it rather convenient to jump on the JR or Metro line to anywhere in Tokyo. Another major interchange is Shinjuku train station.
Expect to walk about 3 to 10 mins from one line to another.
Do not worry about paying the wrong fare, you can't get out and there's always a person there to help you with the top up on your ticket. Just pay cash.
