Go with the Flo...you have no choice Florence is one of those places that is impossible to leave off an itinerary to Italy - it was the capital of the Renaissance after all! While it is chock-full of its deep heritage, it is also chock-full of throngs of tourists and snaking traffic. I found it to be much more congested and unenjoyable than Venice.
An additional bummer was that all of the museums went on strike when I was there. I have never even heard of museum workers being in unions and such...but it happens. And Florence is not the most amicable place for a leisurely stroll unless you cross the bridge to the Oltarno neighborhood - HIGHLY recommended. It is much less crowded and just as pretty as its more famous neighbor. |
