Cape Flattery
"All Tribes Welcome"

Cape Flattery is the Northwesternmost point in the continental United States, and after living in Seattle for almost 12 years I decided I should see this place. It's right next to the Makah fishing village of Neah Bay, on the Makah Indian Reservation.

You'll never drive through Neah Bay on your way to somewhere else - it's well off the main highways. I didn't spend too much time in the town itself, but we did stop to see the Makah Museum, which houses a great collection of Makah artifacts from over the centuries. There were two or three cafes right on the main street through town, and we had lunch at the one whose sign read "All Tribes Welcome" - what a heart-warming, welcoming sight in this war-torn world! It was typical diner food - good, with a little more seafood than usual on the menu.

Cape Flattery really does feel like the 'ends of the earth'. I have to get back there sometime soon.

Looks like a similar climate to here and likewise the life. Isn't it the Makah who still like to hunt whales? nice pictures, Jem

Stunning photo. Very misty, very beautiful. As "Karenincalifornia" says, gorgeous pix of an unspoiled area. Tks for sharing the tips too.

Neah Bay is one of the special places. That Cape Flattery trail is one of my favorite in the world.

Nice pictures and info for hiking here at Washington's tip. No special procedures for the car park?
