  • Really all of Cascade is off the beaten path, but Roseberry is even more so. It's an old Finnish settlement from the late 1800's, when Finns were emigrating to escape Czarist Russian domination. It's nearly a ghost town now, just a few historic buildings preserved just as they were in the late 1800's and early 1900's. This general store is part store, part museum, and there's an old Finnish church as well.

Not a lot to see, but the store is interesting, and it's a lot more lively if you happen to be here for their annual Ice Cream Fundraiser (homemade ice cream, Mmm Mmm!). It's the weekend of Labor Day (usually the first weekend of September), and includes an antique car show.

Drive about 15 miles north of Cascade to Donnelly and turn right on Roseberry Road. and it's only a mile or less down the road.

Idaho is so beautiful with all the mountains, lakes, & trees. I really enjoyed your Cascade photos & tips, especially the one about the natural hot springs that don't smell like sulfur ! Thanks for the virtual tour, Nancy : )

A beautiful spot in which to commune with nature! This is a part of North America that I have got to seriously visit one of these days! Thanks for the page.

Cascade is about the same size as my hometown. The lake looks like a great place to go camping and hang out.
