  • Restaurant Name: Brick Oven Beanery

This is actually called the Brick Oven Bistro now, but I like its old name, The Beanery, better (less pretentious). The Beanery’s been around for 20 years now. They make good “home-cooked” American meals – stuff like mashed potatoes, chili, clam chowder, gumbo, salads, and milkshakes. Plus an amazing bread pudding, according to my friend Helene (I missed out on that when I was here). Also beer and wine.

It’s a casual, cafeteria-style place where you take a tray, tell the servers what you want, and then pay at the end of the counter. They’re located on “The Grove” in downtown Boise, at 8th & Main, and have outdoor patio seating in the summer.

Hi, Your Boise pages bring back lots of memories for me. I lived in Nampa for about 10 years and also now live in Seattle. I love the Brick Oven Beanery!

Enjoyed your page - I was wondering about the Basque influence in Boise. Greetings from Augusta, Georgia.

I first heard the name Boise in a film years and years ago (I think it was with Doris Day!) then I saw it on a map the other day, so thanks for telling me something about it. I probably say 'Boyzee' :-)

Great page. I am a big Broncos fan, which is kind of weird for a guy from England. I don't like the blue turf though.
