The City of Brotherly Love

Independence Hall, Philadelphia
One of the oldest cities in the United States, Philadelphia's history dates back to colonial times. It is where the US Constitution was written and ratified and where Benjamin Franklin lived much of his adult life. At the request of the then General George Washington, Betsy Ross sewed the very first American flag here. This city also served as the Capitol of the US before the White House and Washington DC were built, and is in fact where the earliest presidents lived and worked.

Art and Culture Galore

Today Philadelphia is a very hip and modern city. It is full of wonderful restaurants, night clubs, world class shopping, and boasts a vibrant arts scene including everything from music and dance to art galleries and museums which include among them The Rodin Museum, which proudly owns the largest number of Rodin sculptures outside of Paris, and the African American Museum of Philadelphia which chronicles and preserves the culture of Philadelphia's large African American population which has called the city home since well before the Revolution. There is also The Touch Me Museum for children, The Constitution Museum, and the Phildelphia Museum of Art to name only some of them.

Philadelphia also had a wonderful Chinatown, several great universities, and the Philadelphia Art Institute which features the famous stairs from the first Rocky movie.
We only had a short weekend to spend in this great city, and so did not get to experience all that it had to offer, but now that I have gotten a tase of Phildelphia it is sure that I will be back again.

My mom got a Dustin Pedroia official jersey for xmas. I don't even know who he is! She was excited though. She can't wait to wear it to some 'Boston Bar' in Myrtle Beach.
