Sunset Over the Gulf of Mexico - Saint Petersburg

The city of St. Pete's Beach sits on a thin penisula that juts out from Florida's west coast, about a 30 minute drive from Tampa. Because of its geography, when you drive down Gulf Blvd., the city's main street, you can catch glimpses of water on either side of you. Most of the city is very built up with resorts, shopping areas, condos, and restaurants. It is definately not a good place to come if you are planning on having a quiet time on a strip of secluded coastline. However, if you want to have some fun and get a tan, it is perfect. It is also a nice place for families with kids, as there are lots of things around to keep the little ones occupied. To add to the city's appeal, the Gulf-side beach is truly gorgeous. Western Florida has some of the nicest sunsets on the eastern coast of the U.S., the water is warm, and the sand is soft and white.

The main reason we visited St. Pete's Beach was to attend the wedding of my stepsister Molly and her finance, Dave. They had their wedding right on the beach and it was really beautiful. Beach weddings, as well as other weddings, are very popular here as it offers a nice location which also has many hotels and ammenities. My family, which lives all over the U.S., had a blast here hanging out together, partying, and lounging in the sun for four beautiful days.

Pros and Cons

Cons:Very built up commercially
