The staffs here are quite friendly and efficient. We paid USD13 for a double-sharing room (102 & 202) per night stay (15 to 17 Jul 06).

I will recommend this hotel if you need to access the internet with limited budget. After all, you only sleep for 8 hours in the room.

Unique Qualities: It has a grocery store downstair facing De Tham street, selling drinks, tidbits, toiletries and etc till late at night.

It is the most convenient and accessible budget hotel in the backpacker area, Pham Ngu Lao, De Tham street. The airport bus will stop along this street.

The front desk staffs speak quite fluent English. There is one who can speak Mandarin too.

The facilities and amenities are standard but cannot be compared to the stars rating hotel.

I will highly recommend this hotel if you are not seeking star rated hotel but a decent budget hotel with air-conditioned, hot shower and attached bathroom.

Unique Qualities: If you have a choice, do check out the room at the top floor because you will have a good view of the place and it costs USD22 per room per night.

The room can accomodate a maximum of 4 persons (1 queen bed, 1 single bed & 1 extra bed) with breakfast included.

Another good point is that there is even a lift for a budget hotel. You do not need to carry your backpack up the stairs.

I did not stay here but this is the oldest hotel in the city and is set in a French building.

One of the city's most historical lodgings and it is recommended in the Singapore Straits Times newspaper.

It faces the French-styled municipal theatre and is where Graham Greene - the author of the Quiet American - used to stay.

Unique Qualities: The hotel dates from the turn of the 19th century and received its last renovation in 1989 (unfortunately, at the hands of its aesthetically challenged owner, Saigon Tourist). Panelled wood ceilings with carved detailing accent the carpeted, cavernous rooms.
