There are many tours to see the floating market. Unfortunatly they don't all actually go to the 'floating market'. If you find a tour that leaves stupidly early in the morning, then it is a safe bet that you will see the real thing. The market is only actually open until mid-day. So if your going to get there under your own steam - leave early!
It is possible to cruise the canals as well as the floating market. It is great. You get to see people in their own homes, and the children jumping in and out of the canals. They don't mind you having a look and all wave as you pass. The atmosphere is brilliant and you will be fascinated by everything around you.
