bird of paradise
Tenerife is not only the largest of the Canary Islands it also features the highest mountain in Spain, the Teide with 3718m.
The North of the island is quite green and ideal for hiking, the South is more arid and has some decent beaches.
I just had one week here which was definitely not enough.

For some reason, ever since childhood I've always wanted to visit the Canary Islands. But wow, your photos of Tenerife nearly blew me away! The rugged majesty of both Pico de Teide and Caldera de las Canadas is stunning. Excellent tips here - thank you.

Caldera de las Candas with its bizarre rock formations is impressive! I'd very much enjoy hiking there, as well in Barranco del Infierno. What a beautiful dragon tree and lovely typical wooden balconies!
