Te Anau is a nice village at the shores of Lake Te Anau, the largest one on the South Island.

For me, it was a rest-stop on the way to Milford Sound. So much to see and do like hiking trails in NZ.

So glad you did the walk to Luxmore Hut, yes it is very very exhausting. But the beech tree forest is very special. I loved all the ferns on the floor of the forest! Pam :-) OH yes, Milford Road is superb!
