Cairns is probably Queensland's biggest tourist centre and the main reason for it is certainly the Great Barrier Reef. Lots of different tours leave from here for one or more day trips to the Reef. Cairns itself isn't too charming architecture wise and the good beaches a some km North of the centre. But you've good lots of restaurants and bars to keep the masses happy aswell as a good gallery, a city museum and nice botanic gardens. If you're more interested in nature, go on some tours into the rainforest at Cape Tribulation or to the village of Kuranda. |
