Why does anyone go to holidays on the Maldives?
It sure is not for the history or culture - there are no ancient ruins,
Not for big city sightseeing or shopping, -the one big city they have is Male, and that is easily covered in one day.
Not for mountain climbing - the highest elevation is about 3 m over sea level, if you want to go higher, you could consider climbing a pallm tree.
Not for hiking: you won't get far on these tiny islands.

You come here for two things: relaxation and diving.

Hundreds of islands with thousands of beaches invite you to come and lie on them.
In the water you find a diversity of sea life that is unique.

I just say: sunsets!

I have been reading about this country and its cultures-and they made news about supposed prostitution in the spas now? Your comments and photos are great

Your excellent Maldives page brought back many memories from our trip there 10 years ago. What a wonderful place for underwater exploration. :-)

Corinne, really great tips on your Maldives trip!! Congratulations too on your pregnancy! I did not realize that Triggerfish were so dangerous, or even that the Maldives are strictly Muslim in customs. The water-based activites all sound great to me!!
