Qaqortoq is the second most tranquil place I have ever visited on Earth, I was amazed by it. The traditionally brightly coloured Greenlandic houses sit cheerily on the quayside, gradually making their way up a steep, green hill.
The locals (Inuit Indians) are very friendly, as they don't often get visitors. There are no official tour guides, just local fishermen who will do they're best to answer any questions you have about their village. They are quite keen to sell you arctic fox fur/seal pelts, and the prices are reasonable.
Qaqortoq harbour is a beautiful sight, as usually there is a big iceberg, or two, floating there.
- Pros:Beautiful, tranquil, friendly locals, icebergs.
- Cons:If you take a picture with/of the local inuit children they may expect to be paid.
- In a nutshell:Tranquil hide-away for a weary traveller!
