Inn of the Governors: Lovely and Convenient
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • This is a very lovely hotel just off the main plaza in Santa Fe. The rooms were larger than some and well appointed. One small thing that impressed me was the landscaping. As you can see in the photo, there were beautiful flowers everywhere.

Unique Qualities: Included in the price of the room was a very extensive and delicious breakfast buffet. They also have a computer in the lobby with free internet access for the patrons. Other amenities include afternoon tea and sherry, morning newspaper, heated pool, terry cloth robes and a nice garden patio.

El Rey Inn: Charming and comfortable Compare Rates
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • I found almost everything about the El Rey Inn charming - from the architecture of the white stuccoed buildings to the courtyards tucked around the facility to the lovely decor in the breakfast room. The exterior has a distinctly New Mexico look and is enhanced by several colorful tiled scenes around the building.

In addition to the room being attractive, comfortable and clean at least one item of furniture was unique and I think neat. The desk upon which the TV sat had been a desk which could be folded down for a writing surface and the surface was held up by pull-out braces fronted by carved lion’s heads. I have never seen anything like it and found it charming that it was part of an inn’s furnishings. Obviously we loved the place and will return.

Rates vary by season, number and size of beds but a room with one or two beds will be between $80 and $135 depending on these variables.

Unique Qualities: There is a pool but as we were there in early spring it was not open. In the cozy little lounge there is a computer with high speed internet available for guests. Breakfast is included and is a much above average buffet with eggs, cereal, yogurt, toast, etc. and is served in a charming room or small terrace in good weather.

We're on our way to Santa Fe in a week or so--The galleries, ancient ruins and good food seem to be what everyone mentions--I want to see it all! THANKS for your tips, Rex...

Don't you love the architecture, tiles and blue skies of the south west? Good job on a great city. Wish I had more time there..maybe another trip on another day.
