Flying into Denver I was somewhat surprised to see that it is really a pretty flat city. The high plains of eastern Colorado meet the Rocky Mountains just west and north of Denver. In fact, another nickname for the city is "The Queen City of the Plains." Denver got its start as part of the gold rush in 1848. Its big growth took place after the railroads arrived in the 1870s. It grew from a population of 4,759 to over 106,000 by 1890. Currently I would guess its main fame is the Rocky Mountaina and Coors Beer. This photo was taken in Rocky Mountain National Park which is actually several miles north of Denver. |
| | The Unsinkable Molly Brown Sometimes called the Titanic Heroine, Molly Brown's house is a lovely old Victorian "mansion" that is well preserved and restored with most of the original furnishings and careful analysis was done to restore the house to pretty much its original state. |

lstarkha Sat Jul 4, 2009 17:38 UTC Crowded, poor air ventilation. The food served is somewhere below slop, I wouldn't feed it to my dog. The entertainment was average. Spend the money and take your kids to six flags, the museums, or the zoo and have a much better experience. | deecat Mon Jan 1, 2007 23:40 UTC Like your sense of humor, Rex [Molly Brown's bloomers] excellent restaurant tips. Enjoy reading about family excursions. | Nemorino Mon Apr 17, 2006 22:52 UTC Unusual story about that rich lady who survived the Titanic. My grandfather survived it, too, but only because they were uncooperative about transporting his car, so he cancelled his passage and took a later ship instead. | BerniShand Tue Feb 14, 2006 19:35 UTC OK, have I got this right, you DONT get well dressed Ceasar in The Buff ? BTW havent you ever heard of the Butterfly fish ? LOL another great page Rex |
