Indescribable beauty and scope

Simply breathtaking

It just goes on and on
When our friends, Berni and Carl, first saw the Canyon I heard an audible gasp from Berni while I was thinking that its size and beauty were more than I could take in. When my 11 year old grandson first saw the Grand Canyon, he said it looked like a mirage. After a few minutes I asked him what words he would use to describe it to his friends and he replied that he would just tell them to go and see it. There is really just no way to describe this wonder. The best photos and videos just can't do it justice
Setting sun

Changing Light

It is amazing to travel the rim of the Canyon and see how different the views are and how the light plays differently at different points. sunset is a great time to see this but you have to be quick as the sun goes down rather quickly when it starts.
A few facts about the Canyon: it is 277 miles long, on average about 10 miles across and almost a mile deep. A really big hole in the ground. My grandson and I took a helicopter ride over and into the canyon which gives you a wonderful perspective and sense of its size and grandeur. We were able to see the Little Colorado River which feeds into the Colorado from the east and south

You really DO have to see it to believe it, don't you?! And I agree about NPS rangers - they're just amazing. Terrific pages, Rex!

Rex, speaking of photos..these are tremendous! This is by far the best Grand Canyon page I've read. So informative, helpful, detailed, and quite interesting. So much to do and you seemed to do it all.

Hi Rex, I'd love to fly over Grand Canyon! One of my friends is going there this summer, I'll pass on your tip. :)
