This hotel is exactly the kind we like. It is small but beautifully decorated, well located, has a friendly and helpful staff and serves a very nice breakfast. Also, the price is what I consider reasonable at 130 Euros per night for 2 people and 9.5 Euros for breakfast.
Unique Qualities: While the exterior of the hotel is not extraordinary, the interior is lovely throughout and the breakfast room in particular is very nice. The ceiling and one wall is glass and overlooks a small but very attractive garden. The decor is in keeping with the bright and cheery atmosphere. The breakfast is nice French breads, fruit, cereal, yogurt and eggs. If you want an omelette, they will prepare one for you. I don’t know why anyone would skip this delightful room, but you can also have breakfast served in your room. We will definitely go back here. There are facilities for ironing, hairdryer in the room, internet access in the reception area and the rooms and bathrooms spotlessly clean.

This hotel is a very nice value and located just down the street from the Odeon theatre about 2 blocks off Blvd St. Germain. The staff is very attentive and helpful, the rooms were small, but very nice and the price was reasonable. The only thing I did not like about it was the shower - and that only because it was so small. It is convenient to the Odeon Metro and all the shops and restaurants along St. Germain. I would give it a high recommendation.
Unique Qualities: The location is on a very short one-way street so there is not a lot of noise or traffic. One of its great features is a wonderful breakfast in a most attractive room. Available were cereal, yogurt, cheese, sausages, some of the best bacon I have tasted, eggs and breads.

I had an unfortunate pickpocket experience and the staff at the hotel were most helpful in assisting me in contacting the credit card companies and the police. They were very professional and cordial. The rooms are small but very nice appointed and spotlessly clean. Thjis is a very nice 3 star hotel and I think a good value.
Unique Qualities: This is a great location within easy walking distance of the Eiffel Tower and not far from the metro. There are lots of restaurants, cafes, creperies, bars and shops in the area as well and we felt like if was very safe. The breakfast room is small but very pleasant. I am not a great fan of 'continental breakfasts', but this was as good as any: fresh baguettes and croissants, cheese, butter, jam, juice and very good coffee. About 10 euro for breakfast. The hotel is air conditioned and has an elevator.

We booked one night with the hope of extending our stay but they were fully booked. This is a popular small hotel in the Marais area with no elevator, but nice rooms and a very friendly staff.
Unique Qualities: The staff was very helpful and thankfully spoke English. When we were unable to extend our stay they recommended the nearby Hotel Lyon Mulhouse and called for us. We found their recommendation to be excellent. We stayed there a second time.

This is a 4 star hotel and the primary reason we stayed there is that we were with a group for our first visit to the continent. It is a very nice hotel and I have to guess at the rates since it was included in our package. The rooms were standard small with a nice en suite bath (tub, shower, toilet, bidet) and a mini bar. It is on a side street so there was no noticeable noise. Each morning breakfast was brought to our room - a fairly standard but good croissant, baguette, cheese, butter, jam, juice and coffee.
Unique Qualities: The staff was very professional and helpful. We had called our friend, Pam, in Newcastle-upon-Tyne and asked if she could join us for the weekend in Paris. We had not heard from her before we left, but as we walked into the hotel she was waiting for us at the bar (see photo) with a kir royale as a welcoming drink! Of course, I had to use Bogart's line, "Of all the gin joints in all the world...". The bar was quite nice and the location wonderful. Later the concierge handed me a telephone message for "M. Veun" from "Mme. Thaw" (her name is Thew) saying "she will in Paris." I chuckled but realize I could not receive a message in French and begin to understand or translate it. Dumb Americans!

This is a very nice hotel with rooms larger than some we have stayed in. The bathrooms are very nice and appear to have been upgraded in recent years. We have stayed here twice, once including my 91 year old mother-in-law who was very pleased with it. The staff is very professional and friendly.
Unique Qualities: Great location in the Marais with shops, restaurants, etc. all around. The hotel also has an elevator as well as a large winding staircase.

We found this place a little lacking. The staff was a bit short and aloof and the bathroom could have used some upgrading. It was not awful, just one we do not plan to go use again. Even Rick Steves rates it as a "last resort."
Unique Qualities: Great location on Rue Cler. It does have an elevator.

Maryimelda Thu Jul 23, 2009 07:26 UTC Wow, Rex, I'll be in Paris in 4 weeks and thanks to your pics re the Blue Train restaurant, I'm extra excited. Staying across the road, so will definitely have our last night there. Regards, Kate | goodfish Sat Mar 28, 2009 14:10 UTC Your usual bang-up job with photos and tips, Rex! Paris is on our list too - I'm relieved that you found it easy to navigate as we don't speak any French either. In fact, I'd make such a mess of it that I'm afraid I'll offend the good folks there! | kathymof Sat Mar 7, 2009 05:20 UTC Great photos and tips on Paris. I am going back for my second visit this summer and will spend 2 whole weeks! I can't wait. Happy Travels -- Kathy | Jeannette1 Thu Jan 15, 2009 23:30 UTC I just recommended your page to a VT member going to Paris and staying in the 7th arrondissement. I took the opportunity to review your Paris tips again :-). We're leaving in June this year. |
