The 6 o'clock bell chimes (Sechselauten)

A Spring Festival in Zurich held every year on the third Monday of April unless it clashes with Easter Monday, and be postponed for the following week. This historic spring activity is a reminder of the time when zurich was ruled by the guilds of craftsmen during 1334 to 1798. The celebration begins with a children's parade on Sunday afternoon. In the last few years it is participated of different cultures existing in the region both local and international with their lovely costumes. The following day(Monday) there is an impressive procession of guildsmen marked by finely decorated floats with thousand of flowers and the elegant horsemen. The highlight of the festivities is the burning of the "BOEGG" at exactly 6 pm while the horsemen gallops around the burning object. Boegg is a snowman specially prepared for this very day. It is padded and stuffed with explosives. The shorter time it explodes, the better is the summer.(it is the belief). GOODBYE WINTER!!!!

Annual Christmas Market

In the old town= Niederdorfstrasse, Spitalgase, Hrschenplatz and around Rosenhof, a yearly Christmas market is held. There are wide variety of stalls selling local handicrafts(not only christmas stuffs), foods and drinks and many more items. Ask your hotel or the tourist office if you want to join a guided tour
