  • I came and after some refreshment i started my trail with a friend. Since my homebase is somewhere at Diego Leon, so we started our walks from there. We came across to those famous places like Plaza Colon, Plaza de Cibeles, Puerta del Sol, Calle mayor, Plaza Mayor, Plaza de la Villa, Cathedral Almudena, Palacio Real, Plaza de Oriente and so on. I couldn't say anymore what i have seen on that very first time i stepped my feet in the city. There's no doubt, this is one of the best way to see more of the place.

  • Reminds me of Central Park, maybe smaller. No doubt , it is one of the best known parks in Madrid. it is located at the Jeronimo's District occupying 120 hectares. Originally, it is the Palace Buen Retiro Gardens which was opened to the public after a decree of the First Spanish Republic in 1868. The park was once where Felipe 1V's royal palce stood. The remains are in Cason del Buen Retiro and in the Spain's Army Museum. The parks garden welcomes every visitor to a change of pace and a pleasant stay .Here you'll see foreign visitors and the locals with families and frineds lingering around , enjoying under the shady trees, boating or having refrescos at the man-made lake.

  • An impressive building at the Plaza de Oriente and in front of the famous Almudena Cathedral. It stands on a ridge above the Manzanares River and Campo del Moro Park. The palace is no longer occupied but used for state occasions. it was last used as a royal residence in 1931. It is always interesting to see and know a bit on how the royals have lived and how they received their visitors. Unluckily, again no pictures allowed during the tour in the palace interior. We paid 8 Euros for the entrance fee (Adult price).

  • A beautiful Square and the center of Madrid, The Sun Gate. There are huge and famous buildings around . A very busy area. You will find here the Post office, radial network, the statue of the bear and the madrono Tree, and the famous clock tower whose bells mark the traditional New Year's Eve celebrations.

  • I think it is the largest parkland of Madrid. Commonly, a getaway from many Madrilenos but for sure also for local and foreign tourists. For kids and sporty, a great area and also for picnicking. There is also cafeteria nad restaurant at the cable car station. It was not one of my major listing to visit but since we were just close to the area walking at the Paseo Pintor de Rosales, we decided to have a cable car ride and spent some short tranquil moments in the park. We stayed there before sunset to catch a nice capture of the setting down of the sun at Devod Temple. Now i may say, it is a must!

  • A beautiful and historic plaza, located not far from Puerta del Sol. There are many eye catching spots around the square, to name some are, the statue of Felipe III right at the center, the designs and drawings on the walls(mostly repainted according to the designs of Carlo Franco in 1992), the towers, cafes and restaurants under the arches. The square is mostly surrounded by a three-storey buildings with balconies looking out the area and the Casa de Panaderia at the north end has 4 storeys. Felipe II and his architect Juan de Hererra has originally planned the square. The inauguration took place during the reign of Felipe III in the 16th century.

  • The square is dedicated to Christopher Columbus thus the name. Also his Statue with a fountain and Monument made of concrete cement are the two features for his honor. Under the fountain , you will find the way to Centro Cultural de la Villa. The Discovery Gardens rounded up the place as a lovely area to relax.
