Aun Kheng Lim salted chicken - Ipoh

Aun Kheng Lim salted chicken

Restoran Aun Kheng Lim Salted Chicken: Salted Herbal Chicken

Since 1987. Drive in front of the shop & give a honk then you can purchase your chicken. It's like drive through service.

It's a must try in Ipoh. Wrapped in oil paper and cooked in a big steel pot, the chicken emanates a sweet fragrance that is simply irresistible. Chinese Angelica is added to the kampong chicken and cooked in hot salt. The result: a juicy and delicious dish that provides aomple nourishment for the body.

Pork & chicken satay - Ipoh

Pork & chicken satay

Tian Jun Restaurant: Custard & Pork Satay

Once you are seated, the satay vendor will put a plate of satay in front of you. Eat it if you like it, then pay later according to the number of sticks that you have eaten. It's enticing to have the food in front of you. How can you resist it ? Trust me, you can go ahead to try one of two sticks. There is also pork innards satay.

The sauce for cuttlefish spinach tastes a little bit different from the usual as it tastes a bit curry-flavoured.

The caramel custard is smooth and not too sweet. It comes with a cup of cold water.

Favorite Dish: Caramel custard (RM2), pork satay, cuttlefish spinach, white coffee, etc.

Curry Noodles & Glass Noodles - Ipoh

Curry Noodles & Glass Noodles

Nam Chau Restaurant: Of Curry Noodles & White Coffee

Inside the restaurant, there's many water mist sprinkler ahead on the ceiling. Perhaps this is to cool down your body heatiness while eating their curry noodles ! They also have a proud display of photos of the city's early days.

You can order the curry noodles in soup or dried form, both are yummy. There is no cockles added but with chicken shreds instead. As such, it doesn't taste like the usual curry noodles in Malaysia. Spicyness can be adjusted according to individual taste.

Another dish is the glass noodles with fish balls or commonly called by the locals as "Broken Bowl". It is served with ingredients like fish balls and fish cake slices. The glass noodles are springy but the soup is sprinkled with excessive pepper powder.

Another crowd-puller here is the Ipoh white coffee. I was seated near to their kitchen and have a chance to peep at their preparation of coffee. To my surprise, coffee powder and condensed milk are electronically weighed for precision. Maybe this is their secret formula for the best brew !

Business Hours: 8am to 4pm, closed on Saturdays.

Favorite Dish: Some of their famous dishes are:-
White Coffee RM1.10
Curry Noodles RM3.20
Glass noodles soup RM3.20
Chicken Noodle Soup RM3.20
