A Nostalgic Town

by yipsufen - last update: Oct 2, 2007

Introduction

People like to call this lane as "Mistress Lane"
Ipoh, a city in Perak state, was my father's hometown and was filled with many fond memories of his childhood... Currently, only my grandma (who has departed us on 6/9/2006) and auntie are still staying there. All of my relatives have moved from Ipoh to Kuala Lumpur to earn a livelihood.

We used to go back to Ipoh to visit my grandma during the Chinese New Year, Cheng Beng Festival, Mooncake Festival and some public holidays. With the construction of PLUS highway, traveling to Ipoh has been more convenient, faster and safer. The journey only takes approximately 2 hours 30 minutes by car.

In fond memory of my grandma...

Pros:"A good place for retirees and elderlies who prefer a slow-paced life."
Cons:"Virtually a dead city at night. No nightlife."
In A Nutshell:"A small city with plenty of gastronomical delights to please your taste buds."

Hello, My name is Joyce Yong and I leave in Australia. I need whether there is an availabilty for me to send a clown and 10 big balloons (60 years old) to a friend who will be celebrating his 60th birthday. If it can be done, need to know whats the cost.

The minerals in the water... perhaps... Ipoh girls are so pretty. Ah! I miss the Ipoh Hor Fun, Bean Sprouts Chicken and of course the Pomelos. Good tips. Thanks for sharing.
