POINTS OF INTEREST/NIGHTLIFE

SOME CLIFFS-Koh Phi Phi
*My stay in Koh Phi Phi was an action packed 3 days I can tell you that. I didn't explore outside of the main island (Don) much but I still managed to have a wonderfull time here.

My highlight of the trip had to be the day of cliff jumping and snorkeling. We arranged a four hour trip with a local agency on the main street (there are lots to choose from). We went out to the spot by longtail boat with our guide for the first part of the mission, cliff jumping. The guide, with video camera in hand, takes you up to four different levels of cliff to jump from. The first is 8 meters, no problem for any of us. The second level of 12 meters also proved to be of little difficulty. The next to levels for me proved however, to be a little different. The third height was 15 meters, which is starting to look damn high, it probably gave me the most pain. I jumped off but failed to close my legs in time resulting in a big ball-slapper. I needed to catch my breath for the next 20 minutes before attempting the final jump of 20 meters. After watching my brother fall for what it seemed like forever, it was my turn to do the worlds worse back slap of my life.
To my constant reminder of pain, it was on video (1500bht) for me to relive over and over again.

The next part of the mission was the snorkeling, which was kind of a relief after my previous task. The guide took us out into a little cove near our jumping area, and let us explore the sealife. It was my first time doing this, so after ingesting way too much sea water, I dove down and saw some crazy sea creatures.

The video that the guide took of us is optional, however I highly recommend it, the quality and extra stuff that he captures are great and worth a lifetime of memories.
Most of my nights were spent with my brother and cousin, hanging out drinking Chang beer by the beach; which I must say is much more relaxed than Koh Samui. The water is crystal clear, emerald green, and packed with many types of fish and other sea life. Besides hanging out by the beach we also explored the bars, but none in particular stand out in my mind...sorry. I do remember walking by the Apache, Reggae, and Rolling Stoned bars, but I don't think I was in them, not too sure???

FIRST TRIP WITH OFF---JULY 2008

I was happy to be able to enjoy another stay on one of my favorite islands, this time however with my new girl Off. We spent about 6 days in total for our first trip here together; considering the time of year, had pretty nice weather for most days. After arriving from Krabi we went straight to our room which was at the Viewpoint Resort (see tips), and as before with Kiki it was a great place to stay.

We generally ate and spent as much time as we could soaking up the sun on the beach during the day. Most nights we would visit various restaurants and afterwards the bar scene. I enjoyed many of the new places I had never been to before, however we both liked the Reggae and Sunset bars (see tips). Near the end of our stay here I once again decided to get another tattoo. Due to a little fire show accident I wasn't able to get it on the area I wanted, so instead I chose an alternate spot and added to my collection.

I love to come back to Phi Phi, I find it very quiet and relaxing when compared to other places I like to go. The lack of vehicles on this small island really makes it a nice change after the onslaught of Bangkok or Samui even. Due to the seaon, this time the island was even more peaceful then my previous trip. I can't wait to enjoy another holiday here and soak up all this place has to offer.

Pros:"Great beaches, cliff jumping, snorkling and many tourists."
Cons:"Lack of rooms/guesthouses during high season, but this goes for most places."
In A Nutshell:"Very nice islands and white sand beaches...another paradise."

Wow! What a fantastic place. Your pics are graet and tips even better. I would pass...for certain...on the cliff jumping. I, too, am a natural clutz. For you to try that...got one on me.

Great shots of the views. I especially liked the photo of the tree's roots. What can I say, I'm a tree hugger.
