It was so weird the first time I came here in the summer of 1997. I'd heard that temperatures of 50 degrees C wasn't uncommon so I was rather surprised when I stepped off the bus and it was only 17 degrees and raining!
When I came back two years later the weather was normal and very hot!
Both times I stayed at Joe's underground backpackers hostel (which I highly recommend) and went on Joe's tour. Very good too. You get to see all the sights and have a go at fossicking - looking for opals.
- Pros:One of the last frontier towns
- Cons:A bit rough

Not a lot of music here! Glad you enjoyed your stay. Incidentally, the painted desert is actually a bit further on than the Breakaways; similar colours but a different spot.
Cheers, Ian
