Bank of Ireland
Impressive building with beautiful architecture.
First used as the first purpose-built Parliament House in Europe!
It is also the start of the walk through the "Old City" as I printed out from the internet (see website)
Address: College Green
Directions: City Centre
When you take this drive you should go through the National Park.
This is a drive with breathtaking panorama's and also the biggest mountain in Ireland, Errigal Mountain.
Address: Donegal County
This ring fort is a big round circle and has served as lookout point to see enemies coming and was build around 1000 AD (!)... And what a lookout!........The views over Lough Swilly and Lough Foyle are breathtaking!!!
It is build on a hill that has been a buriel place long before the castle was built here.
If you have a car or you can get lift don't hesitate!!...:-)
Address: Donegal County
Directions: About 6 miles west of Londonderry
Cliffs of Bunglass
The Cliffs of Bunglass are even more beautiful then the famous Cliffs of Moher. The cliffs are the highest maritime cliffs in Europe.
I was lucky I had a ride of two Singaporese girls so I could go there.
The views at these cliffs are breathtaking but it can be extremely windy here and the walk up the cliffs is hard so be carefull!!
Address: Sleave League, West of Donegal
Directions: Donegal County, North West Ireland
The area west of Donegal Town is absolutely the best part of Ireland I have been to.
The landscapes are breathtaking and you can just keep on driving for hours and hours and make a lot of stops on the way to just wander around!
Directions: West of Donegal Town, Donegal County (Ulster)
Sligo City is not worth a visit.I was glad I only had to spend the night there.Grey town with a lot of drugs problems according to the locals I talked to.
But the hostel I stayed was great!
Address: Sligo City, County Sligo
Directions: East of Ireland
The Octagon, Westport Centre
Westport is beautiful town where all the streets are going up and down which gives it some romantic touch.
There are some great walks in the surroundings....ask at the local Tourist Information Centre and they will provide you with a map.
Be sure to take a hike to the harbour and Westport Lake.
You can also go in the footsteps of a lot of pilgrims and go up Crough's Patrick or pay a visit to The Clew Bay Heritage Centre.
Check out the walk along the train rails which is not too long but very beautiful and relaxing.
Address: Westport, County Mayo
Cliffs of Moher
The Cliffs of Moher are one the best known visitor attractions of Ireland but nevertheless it is more then worth to spend half a day there.
If you really want to enjoy these enormous cliffs don't go with a tour cause thay will give you an hour at the most and you only get to see the paved path.
Take a bus from Galway straight to the Cliffs and take the path that is not paved and you can walk for a serious distance along the cliffs!!!!!
Address: The Cliffs of Moher, County Clare
Directions: Close to the town called Doolin and you can take a bus from Galway that will drop you off right at the Cliffs.
Galway is a nice city with a great nightlife because it is the head city for students. But it is mainly a great starting point for all that is to see in the stunning surroundings like the Aran Islands,Cliffs of Moher and a lot more.
There are beautiful promenades along the harbour and seaside for great walks at sunset!
Address: Galway County
The Adare Manor Hotel
This hotel is located in a gorgeous Tudor, gothic style building and has an impressive list of famous guests like Bill Clinton for example!
Directions: Along the River Maigue and you can view it from the grounds of the golf club.
