I have lived in Germany for over 3 years, and I've traveled to a lot of different places. Aachen is where I keep coming back. It's close, first of all...but I also really love the atmosphere. I'm drawn to the history...the thermal springs that attracted kings...the cathedral built by Charlemagne. It's got everything that larger European cities have, but it's compact and can be seen within a day. It's not overwhelming. It's just relaxing...and really, that is the entire point of Aachen. It is a spa town, after all. |
