We have stayed at Bancroft Hotel twice upon visiting the city of Berkeley. It is a very clean and beautifully decorated hotel on the smaller scale though in the city of Berkeley. Its location is prime prime prime.. Situated across from the University of California, Berkeley on the corner of Bancroft and College Avenues, it is in close proximity to Telegraph ave but yet a lot more quiter and elegent. You must not expect any luxury when staying in Bancroft hotel. The rooms do not come with the usual microwave, little refigerator or hair dryer or a coffee machine you get when staying at Best Western or Ramada Inn.. It is a simple room decorated with elegence to serve one perpuse.. over night stay and a comfortable bed to sleep in.. Our room had a bookshelf with a variety of books including the "Lady Chatterly's Lover" and "to kills a mocking bird"... Downstairs, there is a lounge/library sort of a room quite for doing any kind of reading or just relaxing.. Only available for people staying in the hotel.. Downstairs from Bancroft hotel and to the side is one of Berkeley's famous Coffee Shops, THE STRADA.. Make sure you try their white chocholate mocha.. it's decadent..
Price wise, a bit more expensive than the usual.. but worth its location and comfort.
