You dont have to look very far to find coconuts. They are scattered all over the sand.
Rafi decided to take this coconut and try to open it himself... A little secret - he didnt get very far.. LOL we ended up asking one of the locals to cut it open. Taste's GREAT!!

Basket Weaving with Papa

a quick Tip... "when an activity is scheduled for a particular time.... turn up 1 hour later"

We arrived at the time they told us it was going to start... and Papa turned up 1 hour later and told us "Its Fiji time" LOL
It was a fun experience... learning how to basket weave on the beach. You get to keep the baskets, however check with your home airport if you are allowed to take them back with you.

Plantation Island

Plantation Island is beautiful. Typical of the Fijian islands.. Lots of tall leaning coconut treas and white sandy beaches. We stayed on the Plantation Island for one week. When you arrive at the Island by boat, the locals greet you by standing on the shore singing the traditional welcome song.

There were many tourists from Australia and New Zealand on the island.

Nightlife at the Plantation Island includes the following:

Bidding on the fastest Hermit crab to cross the finish line

Bidding on the fastest Frog to cross the finish line

A traditional dance and music show by the locals

Bar and disco music from the 80's which lasts maybe only 2 hours

Activities during the day include the following:

Water activities of all sorts including fishing, snorkling, diving and swimming but exluding jet skiing or water sailing.. didn't see anyone do those

Taking a botanical tour of the Island with one of the locals and learn about the trees and bushes

Taking a basket weaving course from BUBA, the local handcrafts expert and a favorite character by the kids

Take a trip on the boat by night to watch the stars and sip on champaigne

However, I would recommend Plantation Island for families rather than singles or Couples. There are many many activities geared towards children every day. It's truely heaven for them little ones..
