Zaton bay is about 10 kilometers from Dubrovnik's old town. A few small towns dot this picturesque bay- Zaton Veliki, Zaton Mali, and Stikovica. The accomodations are almost exclusively apartments in private homes. The water is crystalline, warm and inviting. It is a wonderful place for a family to stay.
Our accomodation was Apartment Rakigjija (see tip and travelogue below) in Stikovica. It was awesome!. Our hosts were 3 generations of the Rakigjija family. They made us feel very welcome. We learned much about the history and current realities of Croatia by talking to them. We climbed down the stone stairway to swim off the rocks. The nice Stikovica pebble beach was an easy walk.
- Pros:close to old town, swimming, beautiful, great accomodation
- Cons:none
