Well, here I am, member 372'621 to advise you to go and visit the Empire State Building. My tip for this place is avoid it at the weekend or Saturday night, as it is raaather busy. Go during the week, if you can. The last lift goes up at 11pm. And what a lift it is too. 45 secs to the 86th floor - thats faster than my car. Although you can obviously see more during the day, it's nice to go up at night and see all the lights of Fifth avenue, Broadway, and the Chrysler Building. It was about $10 when I went. You can pre-book tickets on the website. There is also a web-cam on the official web-site which is worth a look, I managed to zoom in on my hotel!

3 miles long and apparently if you were to walk on every single walkway in Central Park it would be a total of 65 miles, or something like that. Wasn't prepared to put this to the test as my feet were already smoking by the third day, so we settled for a scenic walk through here from the Natural History Museum to 5th Avenue. Really fat tame squirrels live here, and if they spot you in the distance they run to you as fast as a small terrier might, hoping you might have some spare grub. There is an ice skating rink on the south side, which is open til April. My travel insurance didnt cover this, so with my history of mishaps abroad we didnt get our skates on.

No New York Page would be complete without a pic of Liberty. Get your ticket for the ferry to Liberty Island in Battery Park and be prepared for the rigorous security searches. It was between $5-$10. Since September 11th you can no longer go up the statue, but you can still walk around the grounds. Good views of the skyline from here.

..or Posh & Becks, and hire out a stretch-limo. We hired one out on our last night for a hour, with two bottles of champers on ice. This was a bloody good laugh!! No-one can see in and youre being chaffeured around Manhattan with the tunes on in the background. Our chaffeur took us to the 'Tavern on the Green' on Central Park and the lights draped around the trees were amazing, not just chucked on, like you'd see in England, but every individual branch. It is quite a sight. We also cruised down 5th Avenue, Times Square, Broadway. I could get used to this....please, God, let my numbers come in tonight.....

Directions: I booked this via the website. You can go with a group of people and just pay a fee of about $15 per person, but being 4 of us, we wanted the whole limo to ourselves. We paid $144, which at the time was equivalent to £78.

Our hotel was right around the corner from the flatiron building, and this is my favourite skyscraper in New York, because of its unusual shape and amazing detail. It was completed in 1903 and for a short while, the tallest skyscraper in New York.

Certainly Grand. Opened in 1913, constellations adorn the ceiling. Situated in the heart of Midtown, it has an array of shops and restaurants. Even if you're not catching a train, go and see the world famous concourse.
