Restaurant Name: La Tortilla Asesina
A newly opened Spanish tapas bar. Tasty and authentic tapas, and with Spanish staff, making it feel more like Spain and less like rainy Inverness! In a land of Indian Restaurants, Fish & Chip Shops and Chinese take-aways, its such a relief to find diffent food - worth patronising for that reason alone! Other Contact:

The Mustard Seed: New and Trying Hard - Nearly There, But ...

Restaurant Name: The Mustard Seed
The Mustard Seed is french influenced cooking of a standard higher than average in this part of the world. Its trying, and kind of gets there - its certainly popular with gourmet fans and pretentious locals, who want to eat at the best, even if their taste buds are stunted. I suspect the food could be better, if the customers could taste it.
Favorite Dish: The ambiance is good, light and spacious, bright and with crisp clean staff, the first impression is "am I dressed for this", but it soon starts to lose this polished appearance. Behind the scenes its another inverness restaurant. The menu looks very tempting but the served meals were then disappointing, with excessive use of strong flavours, like neat Pesto, smothering delicate fish. So, good on looks, but disappointing on delivery. But interesting enough to give another chance. Deserves to succeed - I hope - but be prepared to criticise. Have a look.

JessH Sun Feb 24, 2008 10:51 UTC Hi again :-) Will be staying in a cottage with John's parents, and "no": we're not visiting for Nessie... we're visiting for hiking, a drink in a tiny pub, and lots of fresh air :-) Jess | uglyscot Thu May 4, 2006 07:47 UTC Since childhood Inverness was a place I loved. Now it's a place to pop into for the library and shopping, on the way to and from home. Agreed, not a tourist place, but gateway to the real highlands. | Kaspian Tue Aug 30, 2005 04:29 UTC Thx for the info, we just returned--I disagree as Culloden as a "Con". More like a place of pilgrimage, you feel sadness before you even know what happened. Vs other towns, Inverness was where we wished we had more time. The people were great. Cheers, Ed. | cristiana04 Mon Aug 29, 2005 15:51 UTC Good info! Hope to check them soon:-)) regards!! |
