Country of Amazing Miracles

Peruvian Flora

Peruvian Fruits
You'll never forget the variety and deliciousy of fruits, vegetables and flowers this country may offer. In the travelogues you may read how to make Pachamanca, my favourite food. You should have it with pisco, or flavoured Peruvian red wine. (Chicha could be possible, too, but that I do not recommendate.)
10 and 50 Sole Notes

Money

10 sole: Peru has commemorated the self-sacrifice of Capt. Jose Abelardo Quinones Gonzales by printing his face on 10 sole note. In the 1941 war against Ecuador, during the battle of Zumilla, mortally wounded, he completed his flight with a frontal assault on a Ecuadoran artillery emplacement.

20 sole: RAUL PORRAS BARRENECHEA (1897 - 1960), acdemic man and a diplomat, born in Pisco.

50 sole: Peruvian writer. He was born in the city of Ica the 27. 4. 1888 and died in Ayacucho the 3. 11. 1919.

1 sole is about 0.25 euros.
Piura People Offering Algarrobina Coctail

Algarrobina Cocktail from Piura

Main part of this cocktail is made from fruits (beans) of huarango tree, Prosopis pallida, native from the coast of Peru from Piura to Ica and Nasca. Itīs very extraordinary tree with roots 15 times as the tree size under the ground level, thus surviving in extremely dry places. Because of Spaniardsī mistake (they were not very experts in bothanics, as other sciences, too) it is confused with Prosopis juliflora or Ceratonia siliqua L., algarroba tree which is much similiar. But the false name has been preserved till these days. Other main component is pisco, of course. The cocktail tastes like chocolate.

Great tips and photos! Now I know that it is best to visit Peru on February 2nd (Pisco Sour Day). Also, I would seek out a Pisco Sour by Seņor Antonio Castro Sosa -- sounds like he takes pride in his creation! Best from New Jersey, Bill
