First Impressions | The Clocktower from Tivoli |
I arrived in Central Station, after a five hour train ride from Stockholm, and walked into the late afternoon streets past Tivoli. I checked in my hotel and strolled down Stroget (pronounced: stroll) and felt, heard, and saw, from late summer cascading leaves and chattering tree branches, the spirit of a late summer Copenhagen afternoon. A surreal creature of premoniton of sorts; a prologue that gave me the curiousity to see Tivoli at night.
Tivoli Gardens at Night is where you allow the charm of lights to turn your realities into a dream. Never have I had such a delightful feeling than being in Tivoli Garden at night. The smell of stale cotton candy, the shadows wearing jewlery of a multitude color of lights. Please, on a Saturday night, stay at Tivoli Gardens until 11:30pm or you'll not understand the bliss that my words here are trying to convey to you. |
| | By Day There is plenty to do around Central Station, shopping and plenty of excellent restaurants, cafes to dine. Museums exists for myriad interests from National History to Erotica. Then there's a nice comprehensive bus tour which will take you to Copenhagen's modest but charming landmark: The Little Mermaid. Keep an umbrella with you, rain does come and go, but indoors or out, you'll not be disappointed while visiting. |
A Writer's Kind of a City Home of Hans Christian Andersen, while by this cathedral off of Stroget, I felt what may have been a similar inspiration of the winds whisper as the clock chimed here, not distracted by the ash resined colored bricks, about the old buildings in Copenhagen. For there is a spirit of sorts that leads the mind thinking of fairy tales. I really understood this while walking about this city's quaint streets.
Copenhagen is an intimate city that walks along with you and trades stories with you in the language of its fresh air and calm breezes and late night outdoor loungers enjoying dinner lazily as if tomorrow will never come. | | |
