I took this picture of the cars that encircle the Arc de Trioumphe. I imagine the must be accidents regularly around here. So, if you rent a car and find yourself here, make a note of this traffic scene and drive carefully around this area of Paris.

If you are in Paris you will be walking. A lot! Like most big cities, Paris has many dog lovers. Unlike most American big cities, there isn't a major emphasis on the "pooper scooping." As a result and basic mathematics, while in Paris, you run the high probability of stepping in Dog Crap. Be forwarned, anywhere in Paris has it. Especially be careful in the morning when most Parisan's walk their dogs who lay "golden souvenoirs" of feces everywhere along all sidewalks. I had a few close calls this time but was lucky. Be careful! On positive side, if you are superstitious, there is a chinese saying that essentially says: "If you step in dog poo, you will have good luck."

Because traffic is heavy all the time in Paris, even during work hours, be prepared to not be on schedule with things. Here I am at De Gaulle Airport waiting for a prepaid shuttle service where I had to wait about 45 minutes. Usually, I expect to be shuttled out quickly to my destination. This will not happen in Paris. Just be patient and have something to read. This is me at Charles DeGaulle Airport tired after being on the plane and stopping over for over 18 hours. Also keep in mind that if you leave from California in the morning, you will arrive in Paris a day later at about the same time you left. I recommend that you leave for Paris at Night so that you can sleep when you arrive instead of being awake all day trying to see things on no rest, which was what I did my first day in Paris.
