The Eagle's Nest | Me Enjoying my view from the Eagle's Nest |
One day, while staying in Salzburg, I drove into the part of Germany's Bavaria that is narrowly sandwiched between the Eastern and Western parts of Austria.
I read of this being Adolf Hitler's 50th Birthday present from the Nazi Party. How, often he'd come here tor relax away from; oddly; the terror of his meglomaniacal aspirations.
However, if you're in Munich or nearby, you must venture into this quiet part of Germany.
I found this web site that outlines how to find buses that will take you there to this majestic view of the Berectsgaden Valley:

There's a slightly overpriced place on top where you can eat lunch and a short walk to a sort of cross (see next picture below). |
| | The Tunnel to the Quarters Prior to getting to the quarters, you have to walk thru this eerie tunnel to an elevator that goes up higher. |
The Quarters The Quarters where Hitler stayed is now a restaurant. Down below ,where the people are, is a souvenoir stand as well. | | |
