Friends keep asking me questions I should answer a long time ago. Some of them were watching my travels step by step. Who am I? Am I traditionalist, Native Nation Friend or just adventure lover? I can't answer any of these questions....
I got BA at University of Economics and Master degree in journalism at Jagiellonski University in Poland. Travels are part of my life since I was 12. I have been to: Turkey, France, UK, Holland, Spain, Germany, Ukraine, Slovakia, Czech, Austria, Yugoslavia, Mexico, Bahamas, Caribbean and Caymans islands and I visited about 9 US states so far... and probably I lost some on the way. Currently I live in Blackpool, UK which I found quite strange (see Blackpool page)
10 years of my life I was a polish folklore dancer. This experience gave me a chance to travel and learn about other cultures. As you see, not only Native People had a great impact on my life.
How did it start? 6 years ago, my friend gave me Marek Maciolek - Tawacin redactor address. I learnt about Native Americans Friends Movement in Poland, but I haven't joined them until I had gone to USA. Firstly, I took a part in Au Pair programme, working as baby sitter in Miami. It wasn't the best experience, but that's other story... After three months I gave up on it and got a new job on the ship. I was working 14 hours a day, during next 8 months. It was a hard time but also very good lesson of life. (See Sailing House)
During my breaks between contracts I had a time to do some research about Native Americans. Firstly, I visited St. Augustine Fort and Seminoles reservations in Florida. Unfortunately, these places disappointed me a lot. Seminoles are famous for tourist's attractions and I was looking for a real life in tradition.
Before joining a ship I got email address to James Robideau- Lakota Activist- from Elsie (KOLA organization). I asked him for an interview to Tawacin (polish magazine about NA). With my first step to his house I found my Teacher, Friend and Family.
Since this day I was trying to see James and Terry as often as I could. We were laughing, talking and praying together. They showed me a lot about Natives life. That time I didn't supposed that one day James will ask me to see a real life in Lakota reservations. After one year in USA, hard work on the ship, finally my dream came true. I visited Seminoles, Mayan, Crow, Cheyenne places to find myself in Lakota Nation.
Now, I am writing to different magazines and keep travelling as much as I can.
Together with friends from Movement we organize toys or clothes collection for native children. We are trying to break a stereotype of cruel Indians with feathers on their head in Poland. Many people need a support today, Natives are one of them.
It's already one year I am still in UK working in international recruitment sector. My growing Home Sick will not allow me to stay here much longer (I hope). I am still looking for my place in the world. So who knows, maybe I will see you in country next time!
Life is so strange sometimes. It brings me so many suprises. Two years ago I decided to settle down in Poland. I bought an apartment which I love and found a permament job. Everything was great except a polish reality. I lost a job and got another one... in England. This is a country I have never wanted to live in. The weather just scares me. I love the sun and ocean. Now I moved to UK and started new life...
I was terribly betrayed, went through a hard time but now finally found a new love and new ME!
I am sorry my Friends if I keep quiet but my access to internet is very poor at this moment. Please, remember me...Its so hard to leave everything I love.. It looks my destiny is travel. Let my spirits guide me...
Life is so strange.. After many years being treated badly and cheated, finally found a real love. Somebody who will enjoy a world as much as me. He passed his first test 60 km walk in Havana :-)
From Natives I have learnt respect to nature and love to all animals. I let their Spirits to guide me*
When I am far away i thinking about my home... thats my own island, full of dreams and good spirits. I think it shows who I really am.*
