"Wonderful Stockholm!" a Stockholm Travel Page by ChiTownMike

I arrived in Stockholm on an overcast morning in late May 2003. After a relaxing and brisk train ride from Arlanda airport to the city center, I was at my destination. While in Stockholm I stayed at the Red Boat Malaren hostel. It was a very basic hostel, but fine. The upside was the uniqueness of staying on a boat and the excellent location.

Among the areas to hit while in Stockholm are:

Gamla Stan. The Old Town area of Stockholm with its cobblestone streets. Touristy, but a great place to wander.

Skansen. Skansen is a large open-air museum that gives a nice overview of traditional Swedish homes, architecture, etc. When I went it was later in the afternoon and drizzling. For me, it made for a relaxing time.

Vasamuseet. An old warship that sank under mysterious circumstances. It was raised from the water almost in its entirety and is in excellent condition.

Royal Palace. While I did not go inside the palace, it was a very interesting building to see.

TV Tower. The TV tower, which is on the outskirts of the city provides one with a wonderful view of the city. Tourists are allowed to go up to the top.
